Gettysburg and surrounding towns within District 91 is a deeply historical and significant area vital to American History. Fundamentally, the Battle of Gettysburg was about freedom, liberty, and independence, yet we’re currently surrounded by ICE detention centers. Now more than ever, we need local government who is willing to stand up and fight for our rights to prevent further devastating atrocities committed by ICE toward citizens and immigrants, documented and otherwise.

Citizens should not have to worry that their children will be abducted off the street by masked thugs because ICE agents need to meet a quota. People in District 91 should not have to live in fear because of their background, culture, or color. As a Hispanic, Tony Nunez-Guzman is acutely aware of how dangerous these times are for not just people of color, but everyone. If elected, he will demand our fourth amendment rights be respected. Demand prosecution to the fullest extent of the law. And demand local law enforcement and the community to enact other policies for public safety.

Gettysburg is one of the most historically significant places in the United States. It’s apparent that the infrastructure is woefully inadequate to handle the tourism which brings in over 1.5 million visitors each year to visit military parks, museums, and lively towns.

Additionally, the serious lack of parking affects both residents and visitors, creating a hazard for pedestrians and drivers. As Gettysburg is mostly a walking town, it’s vital that modes of transportation includes more trains, busses, cabs, and bicycles. As it stands, there is no singular bus or train round which connects Philadelphia to Harrisburg to Gettysburg to Pittsburg. If elected, Tony Nunez-Guzman wishes to reconnect the beautiful state of Pennsylvania with a comprehensive transportation system to restore our proud tradition of being the epicenter of transportation once again.

Six years ago, the PA Supreme Court ruled it was unconstitutional for property taxes be the only source funding public schooling. Since then, nothing has changed to relieve aging home-owners from this financial burden. Although this is a difficult problem to navigate, it’s not something that can simply by fixed by the school board. Tony Nunez-Guzman is resolved to finding a solution to ensure that children receive high-quality education that doesn’t favor rich areas and ignore rural communities. If elected, he promises to work tirelessly to come with a new system that our state would be proud to call constitutional.

Healthcare has never been more complicated and each year millions of people suffer poor outcomes that can be directly linked to delayed or denial of care by Health Insurance companies. Even worse, these companies are not held liable or accountable for decisions that affect hard working citizens. People should not have to worry about costly co-pays, deductibles, and premiums while also worrying whether or not their insurance will suddenly reverse an approval mid-procedure.

Long term, Tony Nunez-Guzman wants to overhaul healthcare so that everyone can benefit from high-quality services that improve patient outcomes and lifespan without the worry of a lifetime of debt hanging over their heads. In the short term, he wants to hold insurance companies accountable for ripping of citizens and putting lives at risk simply for profit.
